Dr Barry Den FRANZCO established Ashfield Eye Clinic in Sydney in 1990 and South Coast Eye Clinic in Bega in 1991. He is the medical director of both or these centres. He has carried out approximately 5000 cataract, corneal and eyelid procedures. He is a visiting medical officer at Sydney Private Hospital and South East Regional Hospital Bega, where he was instrumental in the establishment of microsurgical operating facilities
Dr Den has carried out corrective laser eye surgery (PRK and subsequently LASIK) for over 20 years, soon after establishment of these techniques for the correction of refractive error. He has used advanced PRK to restore clear vision to hundreds of people throughout the state of New South Wales, Australia, where he now practices.
He trained at Sydney Eye Hospital, Sydney University, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
Dr Den has interests in cataract surgery, refractive surgery and rural and general ophthalmology. He was a pioneer in the use of high toric intra-ocular lenses for astigmatism and has presented papers in this technique at international meetings.
