The eyelids are our eye’s protective system to help shield and nourish the eyes. But sun damage and ageing can affect the eyelid position and health making us more susceptible to problems with our eyes.
We can assist with:
Mal-positioned eyelids
Poorly positioned eyelids can be repositioned surgically for better comfort, appearance and vision. Ectropion is an example of this in which the eyelid is turned outwards away from the eye.
Eyelid tumours
Eyelid tumours, often caused by sun exposure, can be treated by excision and reconstruction. A biopsy is often performed as an initial measure.
Cysts
Cysts in the eyelid are not uncommon. They can be dealt with by excisional or medical treatment.
Who can be seen by an ophthalmologist?
Any patient may book to be seen at our clinic. A referral from either an optometrist or a general practitioner is required in order to receive a rebate from Medicare.
